The Drama Summary

Emma Harwood (Zendaya), a bookstore clerk from Louisiana, and Charlie Thompson (Robert Pattinson), a buttoned-up British museum director, are a “picture-perfect” couple finalizing their lavish wedding plans in Boston. Their world is one of “beautifully polished surfaces,” but the foundation of their bliss is shattered during a wine-tasting dinner just a week before the big day. During a drinking game of “worst confessions,” Emma drops a bombshell that leaves their friends, Mike (Mamoudou Athie) and Rachel (Alana Haim), stunned: as a teenager, she meticulously planned a school shooting, only backing out at the very last moment. The revelation exposes the “dark realities” of Emma’s past—including the fact that she partially lost her hearing during a practice session—forcing Charlie to confront the “spiritual cost” of marrying someone he realizes he may not truly know.
