In 1930s Mississippi, twin brothers Elijah and Elias return to their rural hometown hoping to leave their criminal pasts behind and open a “juke joint” for the local community. However, their homecoming is marred by the presence of an ancient, blood-thirsty evil that has taken root in the Jim Crow South. As they fight to protect their neighbors from a hive-minded vampire brood led by a mysterious immigrant, the brothers must also navigate the violent prejudices of the town’s human authority figures. The film blends Gothic horror with social commentary, culminating in a siege where the twins’ only hope for survival lies in their ancestral Hoodoo traditions.
