The Storyline

In the heart of the rural town of Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal, Zethu Hlongwane is a woman on a mission. As a brilliant, straight-A medical graduate, Zethu carries the weight of her community’s expectations on her shoulders.

Her dream is as ambitious as it is rare: to shatter glass ceilings and become one of South Africa’s few Black female surgeons. However, returning home is only the beginning. Between the systemic challenges of a rural healthcare system and the personal sacrifices required for her specialty, Zethu must navigate a perilous path where her professional calling and her personal roots frequently collide.
